In 1708, a Spanish galleon (sailing ship) called San José was sailing to Cartagena in Colombia.

It was carrying about 200 tonnes of gold, silver and emeralds, which today could be worth about £15 billion. After a fierce cannon fight with the British navy, the ship caught fire and sank to the bottom of the Caribbean Sea.
