Oh no. This isn’t Outlast 3. This is a long, drawn-out sigh of a game that squanders all the potential an Outlast prequel held. The number of people who wanted Outlast as a live service multiplayer game can probably be counted on one hand, and it’s whoever came up with the idea.
Most developers seem hungry for a slice of the multiplayer pie right now, and it’s natural that sacrifices must be made for that, but lines should also be drawn. So while it’s no surprise there’s so little of Outlast’s usual on-rails story-based experience to be found here, it is still rather disappointing. Especially as even the ominous Murkoff facility doesn’t seem in keeping with the previous games’ stories.
