See, this new Western brawler-shooter hybrid may be a throwback to PlayStation's past, when games were simply about delivering instant gratification, but it has at least this one thoughtful moment.

A welcome mug of pure pleasure amid the current plethora of dry live-service shooters, Evil West is a refreshing blast from the past that keeps everything lean and fun. There's no time for navel-gazing or exploring deep daddy issues when there's the cheap thrill of pummelling a fanged cowboy into gooey pieces. This is a linear action game that revels in doing simple things well. Evil West never tries to slap you around the chops with anything deeper than a pit of body parts and a creative mix of weapons.
