The Mark II model, like its predecessor, is an APS-C size sensor camera but is touted as a camera especially for vlogging and content creators. We received the Z50 Mark II with the two-lens kit (Nikkor Z DX 16-50 mm f/3.5-6.3 VR and the Nikkor Z DX 50-250 mm f/4.5-6.3). Let's see how this camera performed on our test bench...
Design & Build Quality
The Z50 Mark II is created for beginners and enthusiasts. The body uses magnesium diecast construction and is strong enough for the purpose. While it does not have the build quality of expensive models, it does not feel plasticky. The lens mount is made of metal. The body has some amount of weather sealing. The camera body is made in Thailand.
Key Features
Let's first dive into the key differences between the Z50 and Z50 Mark II.
The Z50 Mark II uses an APS-C (DX) format imaging sensor (BSI CMOS) with an effective resolution of 20.9 megapixel. As per Nikon, AF is improved (compared to Z50) with its subject tracking capabilities as well as eye detection. Its low-light AF sensitivity is increased to -7.5 EV (from -4.5EV on the Z50).
The main dial at the top right offers the following modes: A, S, P, AUTO, Scene, U1, U2, U3 and Manual. Absolute beginners who may want to keep things simple can use the P, AUTO and Scene modes, whilst others can use the A, S, or M mode. The U1, U2 and U3 settings allow the user to assign their often-used settings and recall them quickly when needed.Esta historia es de la edición February 2025 de Smart Photography.
