Adventure photography is a hugely appealing genre, typically covering the art of photographing outdoor adventures, explorations or experiences, and conveying the excitement of the adventure to the viewer.
These ventures might encompass exploration and major activities like climbing to ancient settlements such as Machu Picchu in Peru, or trekking to Everest Base Camp. Beyond extreme outdoor pursuits, adventures can be less physically demanding, from hot air ballooning over Cappadocia in Turkey to exploring your local area through camping trips or horse riding. And it doesn't even have to be a countryside pursuit; appreciating street art and architecture in a city can also be an adventure. Whether your adventures are urban or rural, here are 10 top techniques to help you capture engaging and exhilarating images.
1 WORK WITH THE LIGHT
If you have limited time at your location, make the best of the available lighting
Sometimes you may only be in a location for a limited amount of time, and may be faced with challenging lighting conditions. If this is the case, use the lighting to your advantage when capturing your adventures. Work with the available light, and consider how to make the best of the situation. This can be achieved by considering shadows, shapes and composition in a scene. Images captured during the day can still look impressive, even when the lighting is flat and the subjects are evenly lit with little contrast.
2 SHOOT WIDE
Capture the wider scene to include more detail about your environment
