Slimline duo's shared success
Yorkshire Evening Post
|July 11, 2025
Two inspiring Leeds women are proving that with Slimming World's unique combination of generous, flexible eating, freedom from calorie counting, and supportive weekly groups, lasting weight loss and better well-being are possible for everyone - no matter what life throws their way.
-
Jan Bairstow knows just how life-changing this approach can be. Naturally slim when she was younger, Jan's weight crept up after an autoimmune condition, surgeries and a breast cancer diagnosis during the Covid pandemic.
"I knew I needed to make changes if I wanted to live well and face the future strong," said Jan. "Coming back to Slimming World felt like coming home.
"There's no strict diet, no rigid calorie counting-just real, satisfying food and so much freedom.
"I love that I can enjoy all our family favourites, like hearty pasta dishes and Sunday roasts, without feeling deprived. I never feel hungry, and there's no guilt when I fancy a little treat, either."
Thanks to the Food Optimising plan and the support of her group, Jan is well on her way to losing two stones - and keeping it off for good.
