Practical journalism training at Leeds Trinity "invaluable” as career-changer secures TV news role

A Journalism graduate has described Leeds Trinity University's practical learning opportunities as "invaluable" after securing a job with ITV News just one year after opting to make a major career change.

Rajveer (Raj) Kaur had spent over 20 years working in digital marketing and data analytics in the travel industry prior to starting the MA Journalism programme in Leeds Trinity University's Centre for Journalism, home to the top-ranked Journalism provision in the UK*.

"I decided I didn't want to spend the rest of my life working a job that made me unhappy, so took the advice I give to my kids and decided to pursue something I am passionate about," Raj said. "I have always loved news and want to be a voice for those who feel unheard and unseen, telling the stories of communities that often get overlooked while holding people to account where needed."
