Couple's Wharfe walk raises clean rivers awareness

A couple has walked the entire route of the River Wharfe to raise awareness of the importance of clean rivers.

Emmeline and Mark Butler challenged themselves to walk the 81 miles as part of the World Water Wedding Campaign, an Extinction Rebellion initiative which encourages people to pledge to protect their rivers and waterways.

The pair started at the River Wharfe's source in Beckermonds and finished where the River Wharfe meets the River Ouse in Cawood.

They also used kits, supplied by the Great UK WaterBlitz, to test water quality at varying points along the way.
