Blinded by the lights

Your article (October 28) about headlights glare, gives a "what to do to cut the glare": Can I say:

1. Check headlight alignment - I can't adjust other drivers' lights.

2. Clean lenses - it would be better if the other drivers lights were dirty, less shine.

3. Avoid illegal bulbs - I can't change other drivers' bulbs.

4. Dim your dashboard lights - this does not reduce the lights shining from oncoming vehicles.

5. Have regular eye tests - this again does not stop the lights shining at you.

All in all we can't do much about it.
