Speed limit cut to 60 on busy stretch of A38 in city
Western Morning News
|December 23, 2025
THE speed limit on the A38 through Plymouth has been slashed to 60mph.
National Highways has confirmed that the stretch of the Plymouth Parkway from the Marsh Mills interchange to the Tamar Bridge was reduced from 70mph at midnight on Monday.
Signage is in place and the new speed limit is in force now on the Plymouth section of the Devon Expressway.
A lower, temporary, speed limit just before the Tamar Bridge is still in place, however, and will stay so until work on the Saltash Tunnel is completed.
No average speed cameras will be put up on the parkway but the police will enforce the new restriction.
A spokesperson for National Highways said yesterday: "The new 60mph speed restriction was live from a second past midnight today.
