Promising Thomas commits to Somerset

SOMERSET batsman Josh Thomas is determined to build on the promising start he has made to his career after becoming the next player to pen a new contract with the county.

The 21-year-old broke through at the end of last season and hit a sparking 136 in the recent County Championship clash with Yorkshire at the County Ground. He backed that up with 57 in the second innings, but it was not enough to help his side to victory as Yorkshire won by 75 runs.

“I'm delighted,” Thomas said with the ink drying on his new deal. “Obviously, I've been playing here pretty much my whole life so it’s nice to be somewhere that feels like home. In the dressing room, on the field, working with the coaches, everything about Somerset County Cricket Club feels like home to me.
