CLA welcomes upgrading of rural mobile telephone masts

THE Country Land and Business Association (CLA) has welcomed the upgrading of more than 100 mobile telephone masts in the UK, but warned more needs to be done to close the urban-rural digital divide.

The UK Government has announced that masts have been upgraded across rural Wales, Scotland and England, delivering new 4G coverage from all mobile network operators for the first time.

The Shared Rural Network is a joint programme between the Government and the UK’s mobile network operators EE, Virgin Media 02 and VodafoneThree to improve rural coverage across Britain.
