Rekeil Pyke puts Truro City ahead in the 1-1 draw at Southend United

TRURO City manager John Askey was full of praise for his players as they returned from their arduous trek to Southend United with a hard earned point in a 1-1 draw, writes Stuart James.

Rekeil Pyke opened the scoring in a dominant first half for the Tinners, but their failure to build on that lead proved costly as Charley Kendall struck the equaliser seven minutes into the second half.

Wins are what Truro need, if they are to retain National League Premier status, but few can question the character and commitment after making that 600 mile-plus, 12-hour round-trip to the Essex coast.
