LAY’S AUCTIONEERS, PENZANZE

Sale of remarkable collection of art

AY’S Auctioneers July 17 and 18 sale, Life & Art at The Flower Loft, Trereife, the home of Jeremy and Lyn Le Grice, is a remarkable sale. Set in the glorious grounds of Trereife on the outskirts of Penzance, it will certainly be a feast for the eyes.

The Cornish artist Jeremy Le Grice (1936-2012) and his wife Lyn, the renowned interior designer, moved into the Flower Loft at Trereife in 1995.

Trereife, is a beautiful 18th century country estate near Penzance and has been in the Le Grice family for over 200 years. ‘The Flower Loft, a large, cavern-ous space originally used for packing daffodils and anemones grown on the estate, was skilfully reimagined by Lyn as a welcoming and stylish home.

Effortlessly instagramable, it has repeatedly featured in interior design publications.

What exactly do we mean by a 'new year' anyway?

A HAPPY new year to all our readers, or a good many of them, at least; Cornwall's far from being the most culturally and ethnically diverse part of the UK but even here there's a good chance not all those who take this newspaper observe the Christian calendar, and more particularly that which was enforced on most of Europe by an edict of Pope Gregory the 13th in October 1582 (but not adopted in Great Britain until 1752).
