Western Mail Conduct in schools has to be addressed

PARENTS are rightly angry that their children's education has been disrupted by a teachers' strike at a Welsh high school.

After eights days of walkouts at Flint High, with no sign of a resolution, parents are taking the unusual step of protesting themselves. They'll be gathering at the school for a rally on the same day as a teacher strike picket line.

With further strikes set for the first two days back after half-term, parents say they've had enough. One described how worried she is about her children, who are both in key GCSE exam years.

Around 100 parents have joined a protest group. While they don’t openly criticise teachers they have criticised the school management and the local authority. They say it is the school and Flintshire County Council who have legal responsibility to provide education.
