Aberfan FC's new women's team joined with players from the men's and junior teams to lay a wreath at the Aberfan Memorial Garden before their games at the weekend.

Today, October 21, will mark 59 years since the Aberfan mining disaster, when a coal tip collapsed and buried Pantglas Junior School and surrounding homes, killing 116 children and 28 adults.

Hannah Thompson, who is from the nearby village of Troedyrhiw, is one of the captains of Aberfan FC's new senior women's side, who decided they wanted to honour the history of the village where they play.
