Trio plead guilty to riot roles after e-bike deaths

THREE men have pleaded guilty to taking part in the Ely riots which broke out following the deaths of two teenagers who were killed in a crash while riding an electric bike.
A total of 42 people were charged for their alleged involvement with the riots and have appeared in various courts.
Kyrees Sullivan, 16, and 15-year-old Harvey Evans were killed on May 22, 2023, after their e-bike crashed in the Cardiff suburb.
The boys' deaths sparked hours of violence and vandalism, with around 150 people attending a riot which saw missiles thrown at police.
On Friday, Tyler Stapleton, 25, of Ely; McKenzie Pring, 21, of Caerau and James Chappell, 30, of Barry, pleaded guilty to rioting, having changed their plea from not guilty.
The three defendants will be sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court at a later date.
The first trial involving defendants alleged to have played a part in the Ely riots took place at Newport Crown Court earlier this year.
Six people were found guilty of rioting.
