THE Conservatives have triumphed over Reform UK in a council by-election in Monmouthshire where one of the regions MSs has recently defected to Reform UK.

The Tories in Monmouthshire defeated Reform UK in a by-election for the Wyesham ward on Monmouth’s town council.

It marks the second community council by-election in Monmouthshire within a week where the Conservatives have fended off Reform UK while two more by-elections are set to take place in separate Monmouthshire villages over the next fortnight.

It comes after former Tory MS for south Wales east Laura Anne Jones announced her defection to Reform UK alongside Nigel Farage at the Royal Welsh Show last week, sparking bitter remarks from her ex-colleagues.
