Swans hitting the buffers in bid to sign Wycombe star Kone

SWANSEA City are growing pessimistic over their chances of landing Wycombe Wanderers striker Richard Kone.

Club insiders claim a move for the Ivorian is looking increasingly unlikely, with Wycombe digging their heels in over the player's valuation.

It’s understood Swansea have not completely walked away from the deal, but discussions do appear to have stalled over the last few days.

As things stand, there is no live offer on the table from anyone at this stage, with Wycombe playing hardball over their price tag of the 22-year-old, which is believed to stand at around £5m.

That has proved the main snag in Swansea's pursuit.

The Swans have already had two bids knocked back for the Ivorian, the latest of which was believed to be a package worth £4.5m, and were expected to return with a third this week.
