A TRIO of Welsh surfers are heading to North Africa to take on the world’s best.

Surfers hoping to ride the wave of success

Alys Barton Jon Bunnalls

Patrick Langdon-Dark, Alys Barton, and Elliot Barton are going up against the finest wave-riders on the planet at the Pro Taghazout Bay in Morocco this week.

The trio, who each surf for Langland Board Riders, are among 10 British surfers hoping to make a statement at the event, which marks the final stage of the World Surf League Qualifying Series.

The competition takes place across two of Morocco’s most renowned surf breaks - the legendary Anchor Point and Anza.

With 4,000 qualifying points up for grabs, the stakes are high. The seven highest-ranked men and four highest-ranked women will progress onto the 2026 Challenger Series, a pathway to the elite Championship Tour.

Langdon-Dark, Alys Barton and her brother Elliot, grew up surfing waves around the Gower peninsula.
