Son took advantage of dad’s stroke to steal more than £14,000

A SON stole more than £14,000 from his own father who had suffered a stroke and been hospitalised.

Jason Price took possession of his father’s phone and used banking apps to transfer money to himself as well as taking money from cash machines.

Price, 28, defrauded his father, Raymond Price, after he had been left incapacitated by a stroke in 2023. The defendant took his father’s phone and began using it to gain access to funds, stealing £14,605 in total.

A sentencing hearing at Newport Crown Court yesterday heard the defendant's aunt became suspicious after she was told he had withdrawn a large amount of cash.

After Raymond Price told his sister he was concerned about his phone and banking issues, she discovered her nephew had his father’s phone and asked him to return it.
