Six parties showing an interest in taking over Cardiff Rugby

LAST Saturday a consortium which includes two Hollywood producers revealed themselves as potential buyers of Cardiff Rugby.

The Welsh Rugby Union were forced into an emergency takeover of Cardiff in April after the club entered administration.

Six groups have expressed an interest in buying the Welsh club but the situation has been complicated by the fact the WRU are expected to radically alter the structure of the professional game in Wales.

This has overshadowed the WRU's search for a buyer of Cardiff but it is still ongoing in the background.

So, what is the current situation?

The cost of buying the club?

IN the investment pack released in May the WRU slapped a £10m price tag on Cardiff. It is thought that the club could be bought for anywhere between £8m-£10m.

But like any purchase the final price is likely to be subject to negotiation, especially if significant investment in the club is promised.

This initially included repaying the WRU £6m over the next few years and honouring the £500,000 in debts owed to creditors when the club collapsed under previous owners Helford Capital.
