Serial abuser 'took victim's human rights'

> Stephen Thompson outside court

Stephen Thompson, from Mountain Ash, Rhondda Cynon Taf, was spared jail despite having previously served a prison term for sexually abusing another victim.

Just weeks after the 68-year-old had finished his licence period for a seven-year sentence for historic sexual abuse, he targeted his latest victim a man described by Judge Wayne Beard as “a vulnerable individual with little prospect of fighting back”.

Thompson pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the man and causing him to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

In a harrowing statement the victim said: “The abuse occurred on a couple of occasions but the trauma will last the rest of my life.”

Cardiff Crown Court heard one of the incidents involved Thompson pushing the man against a wall, forcibly performing an oral sex act on him, putting him on a bed and ejaculating onto him.
