Man jailed after argument with his brother over £53 debt

A MAN bombarded his brother with abusive and threatening messages in a row over £53, a court has heard.

40-year-old Owen Eynon threatened to kill his sibling and burn his house down.

Sam Jenkins, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that between June 9 and 12 this year, the complainant in the case, Glyn Bevan, lent his brother £50 to buy food and other items on the understanding the sum would be repaid as soon as possible.

The court heard that on June 14, Mr Bevan went to see his sibling where he worked in Gorseinon and the pair then went to Eynon's tent, where he repaid the £50 plus an additional £10 for the lift home.

The next day, Eynon telephoned his brother to say he had mistakenly paid £53 to him by way of a bank transfer, but Mr Bevan said he hadn't realised the money had been transferred and he had already spent it on food, fuel and work on his car.
