Lack of planning can't happen again

FEW people will enjoy remembering the panicked, scared, chaotic time we all endured in 2020 as the first waves of coronavirus hit Wales.

Many of us lost loved ones, families were separated and we all sacrificed our freedoms to try to keep others safe.

The major report by Baroness Heather Hallett’s Covid inquiry, however, is important reading and contains lessons that future governments should all learn.

Scientists, public health advisers and politicians in all parts of the UK face criticism - largely for their failure to take the virus seriously enough in early 2020 and to appreciate that what was happening in other parts of the world would happen here.
