A VIOLENT bully who suffocated his ex-partner as she lay crying on the floor said he would “leave and go to Bangladesh” if he killed her.

- PHILIP DEWEY Reporter

After causing a wound to her forehead, he video-called his friend and said: “This is what happens when b*****s get cheeky.”

Zayyan Khan, 25, of Cardiff, had been in a relationship with his victim for three years and they have a child together but he was described by her as “controlling, possessive and jealous”.

She said the defendant assaulted her multiple times throughout their relationship and she filmed him attacking her after he broke down the door of the bathroom she was barricaded in.

A sentencing hearing at Newport Crown Court heard Khan assaulted the victim while they were passengers in a car when he hit her to the forehead with a nitrous oxide canister.

On another occasion, he strangled her to the point where she lost consciousness and he told her he thought she had died.

Prosecutor Pamela Kaiga said Khan told the victim that if he had killed her, he would “leave and go to Bangladesh”.

The victim suffered broken ribs in September 2023 after the defendant pushed her down the stairs, and broke them again after punching her in her injured ribs.
