Hughes hoping a derby atmosphere can inspire Exiles to end dismal run

NEWPORT County manager David Hughes hopes a derby atmosphere will help his side end a 10-game winless run as they host second-placed Swindon Town at Rodney Parade today (kickoff 12.30pm).

County are 22nd in the League Two table after a wretched run that has cranked up the pressure on Hughes, who left a coaching role in the Manchester United academy to replace Nelson Jardim in the summer.
The Exiles boss knows he needs a win if he is to quieten speculation about his position and he sees the visit of Ian Holloway’s high-flying Robins as an opportunity to change the narrative.
“The atmosphere against Bristol Rovers was very good and we anticipate it will be the same, and our thoughts are exactly as they have been in every fixture we've played so far - we're looking to win the game,’ said Hughes (pictured).
