Eddie ready for new role, says Williams

Tandy needs to consider a shift in his midfield approach, believes a former Wales Grand Slam hero.Scott Williams says moving Scarlets star Eddie James across to the inside centre role would give Wales an extra physical edge when they face France in the Six Nations at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday.

Williams won 58 caps for Wales, mainly in the No. 12 shirt where he operated alongside former Scarlets teammate Jonathan Davies.

And he says James - who featured at outside centre in the heavy defeat against England last weekend - has the presence to cope with the switch.

Williams told the latest edition of the Scrum V podcast: “Personally, I'd like to see Eddie James at 12.

“I think he needs to be at 12, whether Ben Thomas goes 13 or whatever, but I just think he's a little bit lost there.
