Double boost for the Exiles ahead of opening clash

NEWPORT County have received a double boost before today's League Two opener against Notts County at Rodney Parade (kickoff 3pm) with the news that striker Courtney Baker-Richardson and midfielder Matt Smith are both fit to play.

Both players started Tuesday's Carabao Cup win at Barnet but neither finished the match, with Smith being replaced at halftime and Baker-Richardson early in the second half.
Baker-Richardson suffered a blow to the head at the end of the first half on Tuesday, but the 29-year-old's withdrawal was not due to concussion.
"He was unwell at halftime and it's credit to him that he wanted to stay on and see if he could play through it," said Hughes, whose side won 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at The Hive Stadium.
"He was just unwell within one or two minutes of the second half and didn't feel he could carry on, so we just need to make sure we can keep everybody fit. He will be available."
