THE death of a much-loved father in a crash at an "exceptionally dangerous" junction has sparked calls for a council to make immediate safety improvements.

- STEVE BAGNALL Reporter

David Paul Langford, from Llandudno, died in a crash near Llanfair Talhaiarn, Conwy, on May 11, 2024.

Kate Robertson, assistant coroner for North Wales east and central, has now written to Conwy County Borough Council urging them to take action.

Mr Langford was riding his KTM motorcycle along the A548, approximately 1.2 miles north of Llangernyw and four miles southwest of Llanfair Talhaiarn, Conwy, when the collision happened.

He was involved in a crash when a vehicle emerged from the Waterloo Hill junction, which had poor visibility.

Mr Langford was declared dead at the scene, according to a prevention of future deaths report issued by the coroner.

Ms Robertson has written to Rhun ap Gareth, the chief executive of Conwy council, and said: "In my opinion there is a risk that future deaths will occur unless action is taken."

She said the topography at the collision scene location was "considered significant".
