COFIS EYE DERBY JOY TO CEMENT FINE START
Western Mail
|August 25, 2025
CAERNARFON Town are riding high at the top of the JD Cymru Premier after their 5-2 win over Flint Town United and will be hoping it is business as usual when they host Bala Town today.
-
The Bank Holiday weekend sees all clubs playing twice in four days, and having kept their unbeaten record intact at Flint, Richard Davies' men will be looking for another North Wales derby win to keep themselves ahead of the pack.
You have to go back to December 2022 for the last time Bala beat the Cofis, and the last two of their four meetings last season ended in 5-0 and 3-1 defeats.
The Lakesiders will be hoping their 1-0 home win over Colwyn Bay on Friday night can act as a springboard for today's tough test.
But while they sit just ahead of Briton Ferry Llansawel at the top of the table on goal difference, Caernarfon know there is a still a long road ahead of them.
"We're taking one game at a time, the fans will enjoy it, and we'll focus on the football," said a delighted Davies after seeing his side come from behind after former Cofi Jake Canavan opened the scoring for Flint.
That Canavan strike put the Silkmen ahead after four minutes and they hit back to level at 2-2 after man of the match Paulo Mendes and Zach Clarke put the Cofis on the front foot.
