Campaigners blast council handling of fire-ravaged school

Earlier this month, Pembrokeshire county councillors were presented with a petition opposing the possible shutdown of Manorbier School.

Manorbier Church in Wales VC School and its neighbouring schoolhouse suffered severe damage due to a fire on October 11, 2022, which originated in the school’s roof space. Subsequently, a “school from school” was established in Jameston Village Hall.

There were initial hopes of rebuilding the school. However, earlier this year, Pembrokeshire council members supported a report from the School Modernisation Working Group.

Among other suggestions, it included a statutory consultation on proposals to discontinue Manorbier Church in Wales Voluntary Controlled School.
