Wonderful places to go and many activities to enjoy
Western Gazette
|May 22, 2025
HELLO again! ‘The back end of May is always full of wonderful places to go and lots of summer activities to enjoy. So, which will you choose to make your celebration of summer, which is just around the corner? Although, this year it feels like we've had an unexpected summer already. My garden has been floriferous to the extent that what I would normally enjoy in the second week of June, we have already had in May. Next question is... what June will bring our way? I hope all my flowers do not get too confused!
It's the Chelsea Flower Show time, and I hope, if you get the opportunity to actually visit, that you really enjoy everything that it offers. 1 visited once and the memories are still vivid. Flowers from all our British growers, whether it is the well-known rose specialists or the many smaller nurseries who sell throughout the year to their customers, are available to buy.
‘There are wonderfully colourful gardens and blooms from all around the world, so a visit to South Africa or a far-off island will be like taking a floral holiday. It is also the place to visit if you are starting a garden because everyone is happy to offer advice.
Our wonderful BBC coverage of everything that makes Chelsea will brighten our evenings. I hope this fine weather holds as it never looks the same if there is a sea of umbrellas strolling between the main gardens. I'm looking forward to seeing Monty Don's garden made especially with dogs in mind. A challenge but I'm sure his horticultural knowledge will teach us a thing or two.
