A feast of music, drama, dance and memorable words
Western Gazette
|June 05, 2025
HELLO, and I hope you are feeling your best today. We're into my favourite month of the year now, partly because it’s my birthday month and my favourite flower of all flowers now adorns hedgerows - it's the Dog Rose.
The last weekend in May though in Yeovil was celebrated in wonderful style. Where to start with all that was on offer is difficult, so we will go through them and maybe you enjoyed them as well.
Were you lucky enough to see the Castaways Theatre Group performing CATS the Musical? I hope so as it was a triumph; a fantastic feast of music, drama, dance, memorable words by TS Elliot put to music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with costumes and make-up beyond our imagination. The whole cast worked so hard whilst enjoying themselves. The costumes of various cats all made up to attend the Jellicoe Ball to tell their stories to Old Deuter-
onomy were spectacular. The make-up was superb, and a team of backstage helpers did an amazing job of changing our young performers into feline characters for the night. The orchestra under the baton of Matt Holman-Holmes was key to the success of each performance. It was brilliant!
