Gas work halted by second homes

THE volume of second homes in an area of Devon is preventing gas being restored to properties hit by a major outage.

Engineers are still unable to access a “high number of properties” to isolate supplies.

Wales and West Utilities is urging property owners, landlords and designated key holders in the affected areas who are aware their property is empty to get in contact with them immediately to discuss ways for engineers to gain access.

The gas supply was cut off to more than 4,600 homes and businesses in the South Hams area on Saturday when a gas main was damaged by a third party in a field at Belle Hill, near Kingsbridge.
