Seller knocks £10k off asking price for local first-time buyer Eleanor

A 26-YEAR-OLD bought her first home after the seller ignored other offers and gave a £10,000 discount - because she was a first time buyer.

Eleanor Boone, 27, had worked on cruise ships for a year and saved just shy of £30,000. She managed to secure a two-bedroom terrace in Penryn, earlier this year.

She was up against other potential buyers - who were from out of the area and wanted to turn it into a student let. But the seller chose her because it was her first home and even knocked off £10,000.

Eleanor had been saving on food and accommodation while lecturing aboard expedition cruises. The zoology graduate never thought she would own a home so young, admitting she was “shocked” when handed the keys to the £185,000 house after paying a £20,000 deposit.

Eleanor said: “I got really lucky. The lady who sold it had other people come in who were from London and wanted to let it to students. But because I was a first-time buyer and local she gave me it for £10,000 less. All my friends were shocked and I was shocked myself.”
