Ramblers and Huckyduck Carnival Clubs won all seven carnivals on the Somerset County Guy Fawkes Carnivals Association circuit, wowing the crowds in Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Weston-super-Mare, North Petherton, Wells and Glastonbury as well as Shepton Mallet.
The town’s procession on Wednesday, November 12, was brought to a standstill after a participant fell from a cart, however.
A statement from Marketeers Carnival Club said: “During the annual Shepton Mallet Carnival, a performer on our entry ‘Magic Garden’ suffered a fall from the cart.
“Assessment and treatment was given on site and an ambulance was dispatched to transport them to a local medical facility where they received treatment and are now recovering.
“Marketeers CC would like to thank everyone who assisted with the emergency to the public for their understanding and the carnival community for their kind words.”
Avon and Somerset Police said: “At around 8.40pm, we were made aware that a carnival participant had fallen from one of the carnival carts. The individual was provided first aid by officers and members of St John's Ambulance before being taken to hospital.

From Sudan to Wells – mayor shares his remarkable story
IS truth sometimes stranger than fiction? Quite possibly. Could you write it? A ten-year-old boy from the Sudan, speaking no English, arrives in London in 1981. Forty-four years later he becomes the 651st Right Worshipful Mayor of a beautiful, quintessential tiny English city in the rural south-west of England. True or false? Totally true. We are talking about Councillor Louis Agabani and, of course, we are talking about Wells, and we are at the November meeting of Wells Civic Society, where Louis told his story.
