WHEN on holiday on the Greek island of Corfu in 2024, Mark Wright got rushed to hospital with difficultly breathing and a racing heart rate.

He was told he was in heart failure and that his heart needed to be restarted to get back into a normal rhythm. After this he would also require a heart valve replacement. The island was not able to offer this treatment, so he was medically evacuated to Athens.

Luckily restarting his heart meant that under medical supervision he was able to fly back to the UK, where he had surgery in Bristol to replace his heart valve.
