Cucurella: I want to finish amazing year with the Blues by beating PSG to become club world champions

- JOHN CROSS

MARC CUCURELLA describes this year as the best of his career.

And now the Chelsea fullback wants to finish his season in glorious style by winning the Club World Cup.

It was a year ago this weekend that Cucurella helped Spain win the Euros - beating England in the final - which was almost the crowning glory in a turnaround in his own fortunes.

Cucurella used to be a target for Chelsea's boo-boys as he endured two difficult seasons after joining from Brighton for £62million in 2022.

But he won back the fans with his determination which has been such a feature in Chelsea's run to today’s Club World Cup Final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Cucurella, 26, admits it has been a tough journey through injury and fan backlash - yet it began in March 2024 when he scored against Leicester and, under boss Enzo Maresca, he has never looked back.
