Pacific Padrino, Super Salute Bag Trophy Races in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR - Former Singapore gallopers Pacific Padrino and Super Salute notched their first feature race wins in Malaysia on May 4, albeit in two different highlight races at Sungai Besi.

A two-time winner for Daniel Meagher at Kranji and once for Jason Ong in Malaysia earlier, Pacific Padrino recorded a convincing win in the RM100,000 (S$30,400) Chairman's Trophy (1,600m).

Super Salute, a three-time Group winner in Singapore, landed his second Malaysian win in the RM62,000 2025 NZB Walter Vijay Trophy (1,300m), named after the late race caller.

Carlos Henrique rode Pacific Padrino to second in a Supreme B race (1,600m) at his last start on April 12. He took the reins on the son of Street Boss again and the pair went one better in the race for five-year-olds.

Pacific Padrino ($17) settled in midfield behind Cinnamon Blaze (Nuqman Rozi) on the rails shortly after jumping, while Filial Dragon (Akmazani Mazuki) and Pacific Warrior (Jerlyn Seow) led.

Pacific Padrino was switched to the outside after the 400m and soon ranged alongside Filial Dragon, Pacific Warrior and Gulf Eagle (Andre da Silva) at the 250m to make it a line of four.

He eventually kicked clear to win by 2½ lengths, with Gulf Eagle battling on for second and Legend Of Niagara (Khaw Choon Kit) finishing another half a length away in third.
