Oasis shocked by death of fan at London concert

LONDON – The death of a man at an Oasis concert in London on Aug. 2 has cast a pall over the long-awaited reunion tour of the 1990s Britpop band, which began with fanfare in July.

The concertgoer, whose name was not released, apparently fell from the upper tiers of Wembley Stadium when the show was winding down, based on initial assessments.

"We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night," the band said in a statement on Aug. 3 that was reported by British news media. "Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved."

The band played another concert at Wembley on Aug. 3, their last show in London this month. The band’s management company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
