JTC to have new chairman on July 1

In a media statement on April 17, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) said Mr Chia Song Hwee will take over from Mr Tan Chong Meng in the role at the statutory board in charge of Singapore's industrial progress.

Mr Chia, who is currently the deputy chief executive at Temasek International, will be appointed chairman-designate of JTC from May 1 before assuming the role of chairman on July 1.

Prior to his stint at Temasek, he was the chief operating officer at GlobalFoundries, which had been integrated with Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing.

Before the integration, Mr Chia also served as director of the board, and president and CEO of Chartered.
