Aug 31 South Africa (Scottsville) form analysis

RACE 1 (1,100M) A full 14-runner field to face the starter in the first and it looks to be a cracker. Trippi filly (3) THINGAMABOB sets the standard. She has solid Western Cape form and rates the one to beat.

Watch out for (8) LIGHT OF GABRIEL who is a well-bred daughter of Gimmethegreenlight and one that is improving with each start. (1) BELLIGERENT was returning from a break when ahead of Light Of Gabriel. She has a 1.5kg claim this time and should be included in calculations.

(6) TREASURE ISLAND was speedy as a juvenile and may have improved.

RACE 2 (1,000M) (7) HOLY STAR must surely get it right after doing everything but win his last start. This looks the right race.

Recently gelded (6) THAT'LL B THE DAY looks a lively threat. He was beaten in a close finish at this venue a few starts back and appears a bit better than his last two efforts.

(9) RIPSNORTER made progress from the back of the field on debut. The One World filly has been given time to come to hand and must be respected.

(5) GRAND FORCE and (2) SENOR RESFRIO have minor money claims and should not be overlooked.

RACE 3 (2,400M) (3) ESCAPOLOGIST may not have enjoyed a slow pace last time but she did not disgrace herself. She could return to winning ways as she is best weighted again.
