Particularly resonant within Singapore's cultural landscape — where sojourners and indigenous communities have long intertwined — Chowk's artistic director Raka Maitra delves into the languages of embodiment through odissi.

The ensemble — comprising Mitu Das, Saran Jith, Chloe Calderon Chotrani, Anushka Ghosh, Tan Wei Ying and Maitra herself — navigates the intricate grammar of the form, slipping in and out of its structures with fluidity.

In this production, odissi serves both as an entryway into synchrony and as a lens through which each performer emerges in distinct expression.

Movement oscillates between recurring motifs and extended sequences, all framed within a visual world both earthy and ethereal. Saran's set design, Miel's costume work and Faith Liu Yong Huay's lighting composition coalesce to create an aesthetic that feels at once grounded and otherworldly.
