LONDON - Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim hailed the sportsmanship of Patrick Dorgu, after the Danish fullback told the referee he had made a mistake in awarding the Red Devils a penalty in the 4-1 Europa League win over Real Sociedad on March 13.
The first three goals of the night came from the spot as United captain Bruno Fernandes struck twice to cancel out Mikel Oyarzabal's opener in the second leg of the last-16 clash at Old Trafford.
Amorim's side were then awarded a third penalty when Dorgu went down inside the area. However, the referee reversed his call without consulting the video assistant referee as the defender reportedly told the official he did not think it was a penalty.
"It depends," said Amorim when asked if he supported Dorgu's actions.
"It is the right thing to do. Quite proud of him but if it is 0-0 or we are losing, (I don't know) if I have the same response."
