Celebrations of the New Year included initiatives to add joy and cheer in the lives of 'the abandoned girl child' at a shelter in Kolkata and destitute boys at 'a home for the homeless' in Agartala and Kolkata.

And the celebration of this New Year, held at 'Gurukul'-a children's refuge, was all about bringing a smile in the faces of hapless 'street children' on the happy occasion of the New Year.
The programme of the day included much song and dance about the joy of childhood and provided a platform for the children to showcase their talent.
Additionally, there was a lot of fun and games for the children to enjoy themselves.
