|August 18, 2025
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Sunday named Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as its candidate for the 9 September Vice Presidential election.
The NDA, which holds a majority in the electoral college comprising members of both Houses of Parliament, is expected to have a decisive say in the outcome of the election.
The announcement of Radhakrishnan as the NDA's candidate for the upcoming vice presidential election was made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda during a press conference held here after the party's Parliamentary Board meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr Nadda said the BJP had held discussions with allies and several Opposition parties over the past week.
