CM Mamata vows to block NRC in Bengal

Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee today criticised the Election Commission of India, saying that dropping a genuine voter from the rolls and branding them an outsider will not be tolerated.
She added that the state government will not allow an NRC exercise to take place in Bengal.
Ms Banerjee wrote on X: "We will not permit a single legitimate citizen to be branded an outsider." She also appealed: "I urge every citizen: do not be provoked, do not lose faith and do not take any extreme step.
