BJP complains to CEO against induction of Azharuddin into Telangana cabinet
The Statesman
|October 31, 2025
The Telangana BJP has complained to the chief electoral officer (CEO) that induction of former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin into the state cabinet was a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by the ruling Congress party as it was aimed at wooing a section of the voters in the Jubilee Hills constituency before by poll.
Principal secretary of the Governor, Jishnu Dev Varma, has informed the chief secretary that the swearing-in ceremony will be held at 12:15 p.m. today at Raj Bhavan as proposed by CM Reddy. Azharuddin is expected to take the oath today, adding to the much-needed social balance in CM Reddy's cabinet, which, at present, does not have a single minority representative.
