WPI inflation eases to 2.31pc in Jan amid decline in food prices

The wholesale price index (WPI) inflation eased to 2.31 per cent in January, down from 2.37 per cent in December 2024, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Friday.
Food article prices declined, but there was a rising cost in the manufacturing of food products and textiles.
Data from the ministry said the positive rate of inflation in January 2025 is primarily due to increases in prices of manufactured food products, food articles, other manufacturing, non-food articles, and the manufacture of textiles, etc.
